Indian Mentality

Are we advancing ahead into a new era?
I think we aren't. We may boast that we are developing very fast and marching with the world. Even after knowing the fact that our conventional education is useless and impractical yet all the parents are sending their children to the same schools. Do they think rationally and logically? No ...absolutely no.

Indians have herd instinct. They do not try to tread new path. They will tread on the beaten path. I am so fortunate that my parents have shown me a new path, a path which is convenient and comfortable and empty too. I am enjoying my journey. I pity all those people who can not see the benefits of walking on a new track. We may change our clothes, may sing rock and pop music and may go to multiplex to see movies, and eat pizzas and burgers but still we are the same old Indians.
We can not be Americans and Europeans by merely learning English and computer. We need to change our attitudes. We need to learn a lot. We ought to come out of our ethos.

How is the Indian educational system impractical and useless? Can you back up your statement with some solid examples? Yeah, i do agree that the Board exams are a bit of a pain, but that is what makes us competitive. We study hard because of board exams and therefore we develop a habit of studying. Board Exams also have a few flaws in them which I think we need to overcome plus they should be optional, not mandatory. Else than that, India produces lots of IT graduates along with tonnes of engineers, doctors, technicians, mechanics etc...I would want to hear from you specially as to why you personally think that Indian Educational System is impractical, burdensome, non-motivational, and above all useless. And also, do you have solutions to the problems concerning Indian Educational System? What kind of reforms must be made to enhance the quality of education?

Eric,
sorry for replying you so late. You know how many educated people are unemployed in India today?
Roughly 10% of our pupulation according to latest govt.statistics. The actual figure is much higher.

What a graduate earns on average ? Less than a skilled labourer. Most of our educated people earn their livelihood by doing some different work because they can`t earn by using their bookish knowledge.

Most of our businessmen, business tycoons and film stars are semi-literate.

If 90% people fail to get a decent {well paid}job of their choice then our education is a failure. I call it impractical. In 2008, 5870 students committed suicide.

In 3 idiots movie, Aamir gives the actual figure of students` committing suicide.

Any skilled person earns better than an eucated one. And any skill could be mastered in maximum 2 yrs, even technical skill could be mastered in 3 yrs.

I trained few illiterate people in a couple of years and they earn much more than educated people of their age.

Hardly 2% people earn decent salary based on the merit of their education.

Our education is crippling millions of people every year. Instead of going to conventional school if they learn any skill, some computer knowledge and English to communicate with modern world, I am sure they will earn much more and much easily too.
